California State Treasurer wants to the state to study a public bank option for pot businesses Last Updated on 2017-12-20 11:31:55 Los Angeles Times / 11.07.17 / by James Rufus Koren California Treasurer John Chiang wants the state to consider creating a government-owned bank that could serve cannabis businesses, one of several recommendations aimed at helping bring those businesses into the financial mainstream. But they also illustrate that the relationship between banks and marijuana companies will remain tenuous unless federal laws are changed. Indeed, along with looking into the creation of a public bank, another of the recommendations from Chiang’s group is to form a multistate group to lobby Congress to ease federal restrictions on cannabis. source:... World Health Organization Finds No Public Health Risks Or Abuse Potential For CBD Last Updated on 2017-12-20 11:16:05 Forbes / Janet Burns / Dec. 11th 2017 A World Health Organization (WHO) report has found no adverse health outcomes but rather several medical applications for cannabidiol, a.k.a. CBD, despite U.S. federal policy on this cannabinoid chemical. According to a preliminary WHO report published last month, naturally occurring CBD is safe and well tolerated in humans (and animals), and is not associated with any negative public health effects [PDF]. Experts further stated that CBD, a non-psychoactive chemical found in cannabis, does not induce physical dependence and is "not associated with abuse potential." The WHO also wrote that, unlike THC, people aren't getting high off of CBD, either.
